Sylvia studied visual communication design at Middlesex University in London, UK. After graduating in 1995 with a BA, Sylvia returned to Singapore and began her career in design consultancy, focusing on brand identity, editorial design and environmental graphics. In 1996, she moved to Kuala Lumpur where she was based for over 13 years. She has worked at Momentum Design as design director, and at the Axis Identity Group as design director and business lead at their Branding subsidiary.
During the course of her career, Sylvia has overseen various branding projects from brief to implementation, which include The Ritz Carlton, Pangkor Laut Resort, American Express, Great Eastern Assurance, Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts, Multimedia Development Board (for the MSC), Resorts World, Emaar Dubai, to name a few. She has also managed Cisco Systems Asia Pacific as its regional brand agency for 4 years, including all its communications and branding projects in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
She returned to Singapore in 2008 where she resumes her branding métier in projects with United Overseas Bank, DBS Private Equity, Meydan in Dubai and the Dubai Racing Club. She joined Green House Design + Communications in 2011 as creative lead and was involved in client relationship management in various brand identity and editorial projects. Her interest in education led her to assume a role as Head of Art at Temasek Polytechnic. In 2016, she established her own studio, Sylvsin Design.
Her strong suit is in signage systems and environmental branding design. She spearheaded the wayfinding projects with The Ascott, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, The Curve Mall, Wisma Selangor Dredging, the Burj Business Park in Dubai, and Singapore Institute of Technology. Aside from creative lead, she has engaged in project management for the wayfinding design team.

Provided strategic concepts planning and creative lead. Managed client engagement and project deliverables. Developed and formulated the Wayfinding Signage System for Singapore Institute of Technology.
Assisted in developing strategic creative solutions with the Singapore and Dubai business units. Involved in design implementation for a portfolio of diverse clients in corporate branding, launch campaigns and editorial design.
Design Director + Business Leader (Branding) at Axis Identity Group, Malaysia
Aligned brand strategies and positioning for the 5 integrated core design disciplines under the Axis’ brand. Provided and developed strategic communications solutions in wayfinding and identity projects. Managed and facilitated as key Signage Consultant for retail, hospitality and commercial projects from Conceptual through to Construction Documentation.
Involved in the business operations and studio setup at the satellite office. Provided regional creative support to the agency’s key retainer Cisco Systems. Inducted into the field of wayfinding signage systems, program development and environmental branding.
